  • Goals of Adult Protective Services

    1. To investigate all reports of elder abuse, offering services and protection to victims through the legal system.

    2. To seek criminal sanctions through the Prosecuting Attorney, where appropriate, to bring those responsible for elder abuse to justice.

    3.To increase public awareness of the problems of elder abuse and of victims who are affected by it.

    4. To identify available elder abuse services as well as gaps in services; to explore mechanisms for coordinating services available to elder abuse victims.

    5. To promote the development of legislation and public policy reflecting the needs of victims (including both the abused elderly and the abuser).

    6.To explore and encourage the development of policies and programs to provide support to workers handling elder abuse cases.

    7.To encourage and support training and educational efforts directed at professionals on the issue of elder abuse.

    8. To promote cooperation and coordination of efforts of public and private/voluntary sectors to most effectively target services to elder abuse victims.
